This role provides oversight, management and accountability for all sales operational activities.



The following duties are considered essential to the job. Qualified individuals must have the ability – with or without reasonable accommodation – to perform the following duties but not limited to:


  • Manages the monthly “bottoms up” sales forecasting process and provides results to the demand planning and supply teams. The lead sales contact with the demand planning team. Delivers a 95% annualized sales forecast accuracy.
  • The lead sales liaison between the field sales team and the marketing department. In this capacity, the role will formally vet and review all field sales requests involving the marketing department. After the vetting process, He / She will then work directly with the appropriate marketing department contact. The role is the primary contact for all marketing department personnel regarding customer specific or sales related business inquiries.
  • The lead sales liaison with all other internal functions including finance, supply, manufacturing and operations.
  • Leads the trade budget marketing process from initial rate recommendation to execution and budget management. Ensures maximum promotional effectiveness within the assigned budget. 
  • Recommends, manages and tracks the sales slotting and co-marketing budgets.  Manages the budgets to ensure execution of the sales distribution commitments. 
  • Leads, from a sales perspective, the annual commercial planning process. 
  • Oversees, allocates and manages the sales team expense budgets. 
  • Manages weekly and monthly communications to the field sales team regarding sales progress, syndicated data updates, and budget updates (trade / expense / slotting) 
  • Manages the sales gap opportunity process by identifying product distribution opportunities at the customer level and pricing gap issues. Does so through a standardized monthly reporting process.
  • Provides weekly updates to the VP of Sales on sales progress.       Additionally, provides insight and recommendations as to annual plan achievement. 
  • Oversight of all national broker network operations including ensuring that the broker policy manual is up to date; ensuring that the broker contact information is accurate; maintenance and storage of broker contracts and tracking of broker commission budget. 
  • Additional responsibilities as required.


Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages a sales analyst that will provide analytical insight and support to key sales initiatives. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employee; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Finance, or Marketing. MBA preferable but not required. Minimum of seven year’s sales management and or sales operations experience in a combination of retail, wholesale, and broker environments.


Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Financial Acumen: Strong financial skills in regards to trade marketing ROI, payback and impact on the company’s P&L. Is able to manage track and allocate budgets.


Business Acumen: Has a strong understanding of all key consumer product retail classes of trade. Has a solid understanding of how key customers within each trade class operate.


Organization Skills: Must be highly organized and has the ability to effectively prioritize and manage a multitude of projects simultaneously.


Problem Solving: Ability to solve practical problems within a logical and rigorous framework.


Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Internet software and Microsoft Office.


Other Qualifications: Must be able to travel 5% of the time
